Founded as a Missionary Congregation of the Roman Catholic Church some 300 years ago,
the Spiritans (The Holy Ghost Fathers, Brothers and Associates) are involved in diverse ministries worldwide.
The Congregation is dedicated especially to working with the poor and in those situations where the Church has difficulties in finding ministers.
That was the humble begining of what we share today as the reputable Catholic presence especially in Southern Nigeria.
Providential in the course of this history was the rise of indigenous vocations leading to the professions and ordinations of Nigerian Spiritans.
These have kept the faith, ministering with undaunted spirit, not only to their brothers and sisters but more so beyond the shores of their
fatherland to the various peoples and cultures of the world.
The Holy Ghost Vocation Movement (H.G.V.M)
is a missionary and vocational promotion initiative under the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (Spiritans) in Nigeria.
It focuses on recruiting, forming, and financially supporting candidates to the Spiritan priesthood and religious life while engaging lay
benefactors in this divine mission.
